Business Problem
Having just purchased IFS Applications in
January 2004, KBR management challenged the implementation team
to “go-live” with manufacturing in just 10 weeks. Since
accurate and more timely material tracking and time reporting from
the shop floor were major objectives of the project, KBR turned
to eNSYNC solutions and their “out of the box” bar
code solution for IFS: ScanWorks™.
Solution Delivered
eNSYNC provided KBR a comprehensive Webinar
on ScanWorks™ and quickly recommended a solution with
options. Within one week of deciding which of ScanWorks™ 30+
transactions were required to meet their requirements, the first
set of standard transactions were delivered. Testing, setup
and refining of additional transactions were completed over the
next few weeks but well ahead of schedule and most importantly
in time for there “go-live” of the entire system on
April 30, 2004.
Every bar coding system has some unique requirement
and KBR was no different. KBR required the use of Lot Numbers
to track material as it flowed through the Shop Order process but
in the Lot Number they wanted to imbed the Julian Date. eNSYNC
came up with the solution by using Manual Lot Numbers but automatically
creating them with the Julian date and then printing them on labels
for future scanning as they moved material through the shop.
In addition to special Lot Number handling,
the following standard ScanWorks™ Transactions for IFS Applicationss
Version 2003 were delivered:
- Receive from PO
- Inspect on PO
- Move to Stock
- Change Part Location
- Shop Order Issue
- Shop Order Receive
- Inquiry (Part Look up)
- PickingTime and Operation Reporting (Clock
in/out, Start/Stop Operation)
KBR Project Deliverables
Wireless RF Scanning for:
-16 MobileWork Users
-9 TransWorks Transactions
-2 CommWorks Label Templates
-IFS version 2003
eNSYNC helped KBR design and create bar code
labels for two areas. Using ScanWork’s “drag & drop” label
building tool, labels were created and are now printed for purchase
order receipts and shop order receipts. Existing Zebra bar
code label printers were used. KBR also supplied the RF “Dolphin” Scanners
from Hand-Held-Products (HHP), Skaneatelles Falls, NY. ScanWorks™ is
hardware independent.
Benefits Received
ScanWorks™ is delivering accurate,
real-time data directly to the IFS Inventory database with two
(2) scanners in material receiving along with two (2) scanners
dedicated to issuing all materials to production. All material
movement is tracked eliminating bottlenecks and lost products.
Twelve (12) scanners are used throughout the production stages
capturing vital worker data for IFS HR’s time and operations
reporting.
Customer Feedback
“Had it not been for eNSYNC’s
out of the box transactions and in-depth knowledge of the IFS Application,
we would never have been able to meet the “go-live” objectives
on time. ScanWorks™ is tightly integrated with IFS and is delivering
results.” -Tony Rawa, Operations Manager
